Rihanna gone MAD!

I get that Rihanna is capitalizing off of this "bad gal" image that her label has created for her but I think she is doing too much right now!  I don't care for her being a role model because I feel parents should have a better handle on what their kids are listening to.  I won't pull the, "Rih Rih you're supposed to be a role model, you have children looking up to you" card.  I will pull the, "since when was smoking weed and posting pics of you with the caption, 'hi' cool" card.  That's so lame to me.  Who cares that you smoke weed?  Post a picture of a book.  Or your vocal coach, so we can encourage him to quit.  Rihanna is a beautiful woman but its time for her to stop the antics.  She is the new Lindsay Lohan. She has become beyond trashy.  Not a fan!

Beach Day

So happy belated Memorial Day.  I was soo busy being fabulous on the beach on Monday that I didn't get a chance to post.

Check out me and my bestie lookin all types of hot!

Happy Birthday Maria!

As if I hadnt done enough for Maria's birthday, I figured I'd do a little more.  On Sunday she celebrated another year on earth.  It was only right to get her wasted and take all types of inappropriate pictures of her!

Beads of Hope

Have you felt up your boobs lately?  I do.  Once a week.  Sometimes when I'm sitting at my desk at work.  Before I go to sleep.  In the movie theatre. No, I'm not a perve, I'm checking myself for breast cancer!

Did you know:
  • More than 40,000 women in the U.S. will die from breast cancer this year - this is equal to the population of Littleton, Colorado
  • 450 men will die from breast cancer in the U.S. this year.
  • Today, a person who has been diagnosed with breast cancer in the earliest stages has a 98% chance of living at least five more years, on average, compared to only 77% in 1982.
  • The overall breast cancer death rate has decreased by about 2% each year since 1990, mostly due to early detection through mammography screening.
  • The causes of breast cancer are still unknown: only 5-10% of breast cancer can be linked to a strong family history. Most women with breast cancer have no known risk factors.
  • Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Latinas.
  • African American women have a 35% higher breast cancer death rate than Caucasian women, even though they are less likely to get breast cancer.
  •  In the time it took you to read this, one woman was diagnosed with breast cancer (on average, every 3 minutes). One woman dies of breast cancer, on average, every 13 minutes.  Source
Someone very close to me went through a personal struggle when she found out her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  With this being her second battle with cancer, she was overwhelmed with fear.  Although the cancer was successfully, my friend still felt the need to do something.  She has come up with a very ambitious idea.  She has come out with a seasonal accessory line.  Her goal is to raise $1,000 by October to sponsor a biopsy.  All proceeds will go to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.  Her site is fairly new, so all of her pieces are not up yet.  I managed to snag some from her just to give you an example of her work.

Wedges, Heelless, Tribals! Oh My!!

Shoes are redefined this summer!  Some amazing (and painful) trends are out there.  Some classic, some outrageous and some simply AMAZING!

Wedges-  In LOVE with Wedges this season!  The middle print is awesome! *places order*

Heelless-  This is a trend that I admire but will not try.  I hear they're very hard on the ankles.  Still, VERY CUT!

Tribals- Tribal shoes aren't only the print, the simple feather and beaded accent on the middle shoe makes it tribal ;-)

Kimye!!

I love these two attention slores!

The New Role Models?

Are these women really the new role models?  With the exception of Kandi, what have these women done to earn the name "role models?"

Kandi is a business woman.  She is talented and learned different ways to reinvent herself and her brand without THROWING WINE BOTTLES and LEAKING NUDE PHOTOS.  She takes into account that she has a daughter that will have to suffer the consequences of her actions so she makes sure to keep the buffoonery to a minimum.  Personally, I think for Kandi to be put in the same category as the rest of these clowns, is an insult.

Lets take Tamar for instance.  Known for dot-com'ing, org'ing, edu'ing and net'ing everything, Tamar has single handedly ruined the English language.  Not only does she lack intelligence, she gives herself way too much credit in the talent department.  Not saying she isn't a talented woman, but her 'I know everything, this is how it's supposed to go' mentality is why she is a reality TV star and not a famous singer.  If you knew everything, you'd be famous already.  So in your own very famous words "have several seats!" .org...

Evelyn is my favorite.  She's what I like to call the "emotional thug."  How do you throw bottles at people, jump across tables yelling, "you ain't bout this life," and then cry because your homie lives in a 2 bedroom apartment in Harlem?  I often wonder if the cameras didn't follow Evelyn if she would be "bout that life."  Evelyn is no where near a role model to me.  You have a daughter in college and I bet she doesn't even act the way you do.  There comes a time when you have to grow up.  Throwing bottles doesn't get you cool points in the real world, it gets you jail time.

Last but not least... Chrissy.  I actually really love Chrissy as a character on Love & Hip Hop.  I think she is real, funny and you can tell her heart is big.  Unfortunately, Chrissy is another person to make an ass out of herself with the constant fighting.  From fighting her man's battles, to her friend's battles to her own battles, all Chrissy does is fight!  Sad because it makes this very beautiful woman look disgusting.

I wish these women suffered the consequences of fighting without the cameras around.  These shows only portray us as angry black women.  The shows do not show black women being great mothers, friends, daughters and entertainers.  Instead, you are recognized for throwing bottles, dropping nude pictures on the net, pulling out weaves, fighting in clubs, starting twitter wars, and overall disrespecting yourselves and your family.  Being a strong woman does not mean physically fighting to prove a point.  Being a strong woman means standing up for yourself, having a presence and not having to resort to violence when things don't go the way you feel they should.  Are these women role models?  Not in the least!

Fashion at Cannes Film Festival

I'm not a fashionista.  I wear what the hell I want.  Don't ask me about designers.  Don't ask me about models.  Ok.  now that we got that out of the way, Here are some of my favorite looks from that Canne's Film Festival.
